What a subject. :( I'm sort of glad he passed in private. On stage would have been totally mortifying.

On a lighter note he laughingly says he plays for his life
I used to love Gene Sarazen on Shell's Wonderful World of Golf and his happy sing song voice. Jerry sounds like that.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=103&v=grQ8f5oOcY4

and around 1:40 his words are prescient and knowing
from
I didn't have the freedom to quit
on

This post was modified by Vermoontains on 2019-06-05 05:12:58

Agreed. Pretty sure the same small groups of folks who'd cheer just about anything during a show (feedback...tuning...Donna) would start screaming "Yeah, Jerry! Down on the rug! Woo-hoo!!!! Darkstar!!!!".

That I'm glad we missed.

Exactly how the Colonel expired on stage at the Fox in Atlanta. Most folks assumed it was just part of his stage antics, cause if fit in as something he would do. Took a minute or two for folks to realize it was not an act. Knowing the Colonel, he could not have imagined a better way of going out!

Speaking of cheering at inappropriate times during shows, I remember really enjoying drums and space in those final years. I would not exactly cheer, but loved dancing to the tribal and improvised sounds that would occur during them. It seemed at the time as the only time they were not just mailing it in, and actually tried to find the sound they had obviously lost after Brent died and then Bruce left. Peace

Interesting point about drums. Never really looked at it that way, but you've got me thinking and I think you've got a valid point. "Not just mailing it in". That fits nicely.
